Originally from Indianapolis, Dr. Malik earned his M.D. from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He then completed his internship and residency at Methodist Hospital of Indiana and his fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Along the way, Dr. Malik earned many educational honors, including Summa Cum Laude and membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Malik's father was a physician and was his inspiration for becoming a doctor. He describes the intellectual challenge of medicine as being particularly appealing to him.

Since joining HeartCare Midwest in 1998, Dr. Malik has been active as a clinical assistant professor at the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine at Peoria. He is also a member of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Malik and his wife, Ausia, have three children, two boys and a girl. In his free time, he likes to go biking and lift weights. He is also an active leader in the local Muslim community and is an avid book collector and history buff.
