Steven was born and raised in Westmont, Ill. While in high school, he developed a love of the sciences and considered becoming a physician as a way to use science and serve others.

Early on cardiology interested him. Becoming aware that heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States, Steven determined this to be an area where he could make an impact.

Meeting his wife just before college, they decided to attend medical school together and are now both physicians working to care for others. Their busy family has grown to include a son and daughter and they enjoy spending time together playing or biking. Dr. Lome also enjoys computers, chess and swimming.
