David was born in Philadelphia, PA and was primarily raised in Las Vegas, NV. However, having a father who was an Air Force physician and his pursuit of a higher education, gave David the opportunity to live in many places throughout the country. This includes the East and West Coasts, as well as the Southern United States.
Despite having a father and a grandmother who were physicians, David never felt pressured to follow a career in medicine. However, as a teenager, David realized his own passion for medicine and sites his father and grandmother as great role models. He first knew he wanted to go into cardiology when he witnessed a diagnostic catherization as a teenager and became increasingly interested in electrophysiology during his fellowship. Now, the intellectual challenge and manual skills needed for electrophysiology procedures keep David’s job exciting for him.
Dr. Charles is very thankful for the inspiration and support he receives from his family. He is the proud Godfather of his brother’s son and says, “My brother is very sharp… he is a great motivator for me.” David’s mother still lives in Las Vegas and the two remain very close. Unfortunately, David’s father passed away but “he was my biggest fan as I was his as well.”Board Certifications:
- American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine
- American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine: Cardiovascular Subspecialty Boards
Best Part of the Job
While Dr. Charles enjoys many aspects of his job, such as the camaraderie and teamwork he experiences, his favorite part is working with patients. “I especially enjoy the elderly patients… I learn so much from them and they are extremely gracious towards me as a caregiver which always moves me.”
